The three things you need to know
First: build the four foundations up from ace to king, one suit each - that is the whole goal. Second: in the tableau, cards stack downward in alternating colors, so a red six goes on a black seven. Third: only kings (or stacks starting with a king) can move to an empty column.
That is genuinely all the rules. Everything else is judgment, and judgment comes fast: turn one card at a time from the stock, place whatever fits, and never leave an ace sitting in the waste when a foundation is empty.
Habits that win early games
Always play the move that uncovers a face-down card first - hidden cards are the only thing standing between you and more options. Prefer moves that keep long alternating runs together, and do not rush a king to an empty column unless another move needs the space.
Stuck? Undo is unlimited, so try the move you are curious about, look one step ahead, and take it back if the board gets worse. Beginners who experiment freely improve twice as fast as beginners afraid of breaking the game - and nothing here can break.
Graduating to turn-3
